Do the sensors have a required orientation?

Yes. The sensors must be installed the correct way up and roughly horizontal.

How high should the sensors be installed?

Blindsight sensors should be installed at a minimum of 2m above the ground and at a maximum of 4m for optimal performance.

How many sensors can connect to a Blindsight processing unit?

Two sensors can be connected to a Blindsight processing unit (BPU).

What is the sensor field of view?

Each individual sensor has a 93 degree field of view.

How far does the sensor ‘see’?

It depends on the object and visibility.

Small objects, such as traffic cones, may be seen out to 10m; large objects, such as heavy vehicles, can potentially be seen out to 50m or more.

Objects that are partially occluded and environmental conditions such as darkness and fog also impact the detection distance.

We think it's better to think about your safety concerns and ask yourself, how far do you need to see?

How do I limit the distance the sensors can see?

There are 2 methods to restrict the sensors view:

  1. Angle the sensors to only ‘see’ the desired area(s)

  2. Crop out regions with Alert Zones
