What is a false positive and false negative?
A false positive is detecting an object when that object is not present.
Does Blindsight stop or control a machine?
Blindsight does not stop or control a machine. Blindsight is a safety augmentation system that provides information to the operator (and/or persons around) who then determines the best course of action.
However, Blindsight can integrate with 3rd party systems using the Relay, which provides an on/off trigger.
What happens if Blindsight cannot see?
The BPU and in-cab alert status lights will turn red if a sensor or cable is damaged.
β
If the system is operating but cannot see due to dirt on a sensor or insufficient light, the in-cab alert status lights will turn yellow.
What happens if Blindsight does not have 4G connection?
Blindsight does not require 4G connection to operate the AI and local alerts. Should 4G not be available, the BPU status light will indicate this with a slow flashing green light.
If no 4G is available, Blindsight cannot send or receive data from the cloud, which means that it cannot be (re)configured, send detection videos, and receive over-the-air updates.
Blindsight stores all detection data onboard in a rolling log, and uploads to the cloud when a 4G connection is established.
How far does the sensor see?
It depends on the object and visibility, and the configuration of your alert zones.
Small objects, such as traffic cones, may be seen out to 10m; large objects, such as heavy vehicles, can potentially be seen out to 50m or more.
Objects that are partially occluded and environmental conditions such as darkness and fog also impact the detection distance.
What is the IP rating?
The Blindsight processing unit (BPU) and sensors are IP66 rated.
The in-cab alert is IP65 rated.
Does Blindsight record people and how is that stored?
The Blindsight processing unit (BPU) stores an encrypted rolling log of video from each sensor when turned on.
A detection of any selected object, such as a person, creates a 5 second alert preview of the detection, along with relevant metadata, when 4G is available. This is available on the Blindsight web portal, where an authorised user can request the video.
Will Blindsight drain my plant battery?
Blindsight should be installed after the plant battery isolator switch so that the plant battery is not drained.
Blindsight automatically turns on when power is connected.
Should Blindsight be wired before or after the battery isolator?
Blindsight should be installed after the plant battery isolator switch so that the plant battery is not drained.
Is Blindsight SIL rated?
No, Blindsight is not SIL rated.
